Rajasthan is arguably India most visually spectacular state. With some planning, travelling here on a tight daily budget is perfectly doable.
Getting There
The cheapest way into Rajasthan is by overnight sleeper train from Delhi to Jaipur. Intercity buses from ISBT Kashmiri Gate cost even less.
Where to Stay
Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Pushkar all have excellent hostels and budget guesthouses run by local families. Many offer free breakfast on their rooftop cafes.
Food Budget
A thali at a local dhaba includes dal, sabzi, roti, rice, and salad at a very affordable price. Street food is even cheaper. Pyaz ki kachori in Jodhpur and mirchi bada are legendary and extremely affordable.
