The Ganges at Rishikesh transforms from a sacred river into an adrenaline playground. Your guide to the best rafting stretches.

Rishikesh has earned its reputation as the adventure capital of India, and white-water rafting on the Ganges is its crown jewel. With rapids ranging from Grade I to Grade IV, there is something for every level of thrill-seeker.

Rafting Stretches

Brahmpuri to Rishikesh (9 km): Grade I-II. Ideal for beginners and families. Duration: 1.5 hours.
Shivpuri to Rishikesh (16 km): Grade II-III. Most popular stretch. Includes rapids named Roller Coaster, Golf Course, and Club House. Duration: 2.5 hours.
Marine Drive to Rishikesh (26 km): Grade III-IV. For experienced rafters. Includes The Wall rapid. Duration: 4 hours.

Best Time

September to November is the sweet spot with high post-monsoon water levels. February to May is drier but still excellent for rafting.

Beach Camping

Most operators combine rafting with an overnight beach camp on the riverbank. You get a bonfire, stargazing, group games, and a satisfying dal-roti dinner under the open sky.

Safety First

Always use a reputable operator registered with the Uttarakhand Tourism Department. Insist on proper life jackets, helmets, and trained guides.
